"ENGINEERING THE FUTURE OF THE START-UP NATION"

Moving the newAfeka campus to a developing neighborhood in the south-east district of Tel Aviv is part of a shared vision between the Tel Aviv municipality and Afeka. Yad-Eliyahu is located in an area of the city that is lacking commercial opportunities and community facilities. According to the most recent data published by the Israeli Central Bureau of Statistics, Yad-Eliyahu’s socioeconomic index of 4.6 out of 10, among the lowest in the country. This comes in stark comparison to the socioeconomic index of 10 held by the location of Afeka College’s current campus in the north of the city. Furthermore, with only 39% of southern Tel Aviv residents holding an academic degree, in comparison to 68% of northern Tel Aviv residents, moving a leading institution for higher education such as Afeka College to the area will transform all of southern Tel Aviv and impact the entire city of Tel Aviv. The new campus will help bridge societal gaps by creating an academic environment that brings an influx of students, faculty, commerce and facilities that will serve as a catalyst for local rejuvenation and provide an opportunity for building a socio-educational ecosystem that promotes excellence and innovation in the fields of science and technology as a basis for social mobility.
