B.Sc.

The B.Sc.’s final project is the last stage of the students’ studies at the college, and it is meant to allow students to fulfill all of the academic requirements needed in order to be eligible for the desired degree, and to assist students who have no prior experience to gain practical experience provided with proper guidance, which will allow them to quickly integrate into the market.

The final project may be executed, subject to all of the administrative requirements applying to final projects (including interim reports, stepping stones, project duration and passing exams), in one of the following three formats:

1.Individual Project – executed by an individual student.
2.Group Project – a multidisciplinary project designed for a team of up to 3 students each from a different academic department. This project allows the team members to develop teamwork and leadership skills, together with the ability to view the big picture. The scope of this project is therefore significantly larger than that of the individual project.
3.Research Project – guided by a member of the teaching faculty and must be approved by the college’s research project committee

Master’s Degree

The final project is a significant systemic project, in which a team of students plans a system and executes all the planning stages, both from the systems engineering aspect and from the disciplinary – professional aspect. The process of executing the project represents the life cycle of a project in accordance with systems engineering theory, as it was taught in class, and expanded by the students’ self-learning. In each one of these stages, one of the three students leads the team by acting as the Systems Engineer, who is in charge of the managerial and engineering aspects of that specific stage. The two other students act as professional engineers in the fields relevant to the specific project, thus assisting the systems engineer. The result of this entire project is a dynamic simulation of a working system, representing the environment, points of entrance, processes and points of exit, each represented in a suitable visual manner. The project lasts 15 months and is executed in teams of 3-4 students. Each student is required to invest about 400-500 hours in the project, and receives 8 credit points upon its completion. Each team is guided by an instructor who has vast experience in the field of systems engineering, and possesses significant engineering experience in the field relevant to the project.

Afeka Etgarim

The Afeka Etgarim Track is a unique final project program, whose main goal is to teach students to manage, work as a team and interface with new fields of knowledge from various academic departments, as part of higher engineering education at its best.

In this program, teams of three students, each from a different department, execute unique, multidisciplinary and challenging projects. These projects are allocated larger resources, both from the guidance aspect and from the budget aspect. The successful completion of a project in this program is a significant academic and engineering challenge, which provides the students with a great deal of managerial engineering experience, accumulated through teamwork similar to that teamwork which characterizes the industry.

Starting-Up a Venture with the Afeka Entrepreneurship Center

In addition to the Project Department, organizations can enjoy the services of the Afeka Entrepreneurship Center, which was founded by the college specifically in order to promote and commercialize innovative-business-technological projects as a base for founding ventures and start-up companies. The Afeka Entrepreneurship team assists the entrepreneur community throughout the process – from finding a suitable idea, through to recruiting a team, developing a model to prove feasibility, building a business-marketing package and protecting intellectual property, all the way to commercializing the technological solution that was developed or turning it into an independent venture. In addition, all the projects executed by the Afeka Entrepreneurship Center are conducted as a partnership between the inventor, the college, the technology team (faculty members or students) and business leader.
