Introduction and Background
My academic journey has been shaped by a focus on strategic thinking and complex systems analysis, starting with my master’s degree in Game Theory and continuing through my Ph.D. in Mathematical Economics at the Weizmann Institute of Science. These experiences helped me develop a strong foundation in understanding and modeling decision-making processes.
During my post-doctoral fellowships, I further explored these areas, particularly in Financial Mathematics and Decision Theory, with an emphasis on decision-making under uncertainty. This work led me to apply mathematical models and machine learning methods to financial data analysis, which gradually expanded into analyzing a variety of data types, including sensors, images, video, and text.
Recognizing the increasing demand for expertise in these fields within the Israeli industry, I was motivated to a lead in establishing the Intelligent Systems master’s program at Afeka College.
This ongoing commitment to bridging academia and industry recently led to the founding of the Afeka Interdisciplinary Center for Social Good Generative AI (ICSGEN.AI). Inspired by the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), ICSGEN.AI focuses on using AI to create positive global impact, aligning its research and projects with these universal objectives.
Current Research and Projects
ICSGEN.AI harnesses generative AI to tackle societal challenges, focusing on developing applications that enhance public well-being in areas like security, healthcare, education, and environmental protection. The mission of ICSGEN.AI is to educate the next generation of experts on generative AI for social good...
AI is to educate the next generation of experts on generative AI for social good, conduct cutting-edge research to create software libraries and models tailored for these applications, and provide consulting and support to GenAI-based social entrepreneurs, startups, and businesses. Examples of our recent projects include enhancing public safety with AI-driven situational awareness systems, developing personalized education platforms, using AI to encourage cognitive activity in the elderly through social reminiscence projects—just to name a few.
Collaborations
For every project we undertake at ICSGEN.AI, we prioritize collaboration with relevant experts and stakeholders to ensure our solutions are grounded in real-world needs and challenges.
We work closely with Emergency Response Professionals from the IDF and Ministry of Defense on AI-driven situational awareness, Teachers and Educators on personalized education research, and Healthcare and Geriatric Specialists on initiatives to support cognitive activity in the elderly. These are just a few examples of the collaborative efforts we mentioned earlier, illustrating how we align our research with practical, real-world applications.
Innovation and Problem-Solving
At ICSGEN.AI, innovation is driven by a commitment to addressing complex challenges through a multidisciplinary approach. We focus on developing solutions that are not only technologically advanced but also deeply rooted in practicality.
Our problem-solving process is iterative, involving continuous learning, adaptation, and collaboration with experts across various domains. This allows us to approach problems from multiple angles, ensuring that our solutions are both innovative and effective in meeting real-world needs. By staying agile and open to new ideas, we strive to push the boundaries of what’s possible with AI, always aiming to create meaningful and lasting impact.
Future of Engineering Science
The future of engineering science, particularly in AI, holds immense potential to transform how we address societal challenges. As AI continues to evolve, it will play an increasingly pivotal role in shaping industries and improving quality of life across the globe.
At ICSGEN.AI, we are committed to being at the forefront of these advancements, exploring how AI can be integrated with emerging technologies to create solutions that are not only innovative but also equitable and accessible. We envision a future where AI serves as a powerful tool for social good, driving progress in areas like healthcare, education, and public safety, and contributing to a more sustainable and just world.
