Empowering Israel’s Future Innovators During Wartime

As we mark a year since the war began, the need for your support remains critical, with reserve duty rates still unprecedentedly high.

The ongoing conflict of the Iron Swords War has greatly impacted Israel's higher education system. At Afeka College, over 42% of our student body have been drafted into military reserves since the fighting began. This is the highest mobilization rate among all Israeli academic institutions.

A year has now passed since the war began, and the event has unfolded into a long-lasting crisis with far-reaching consequences. We are preparing for the possibility that high military reserve draft rates will remain a reality for the foreseeable future. Consequently, the need for ongoing support is as urgent as ever, both now and throughout the coming academic year.

To address this, Afeka has developed a comprehensive support package tailored to the diverse needs of our students. Key components include transitioning to a flexible hybrid teaching model, repeating courses throughout the year, providing academic advising and mentoring, increasing scholarship funding, and offering individual and group mental health counseling.

We aim to maintain academic standards while providing students the backing necessary to graduate on time and contribute to Israel's crucially important high-tech sector, where Afeka plays a key role by producing 10% of the country's new engineers annually. With each engineer contributing an estimated $250K to Israel's annual GDP, the impact of Afeka alumni on the countries economic growth is powerful.

As a public academic institution, our existing budget is designed for times of peace and routine needs and is not equipped to meet the significant demands that have arisen due to the war. Afeka has already committed ₪5 million from internal sources. With your support, we aim to raise and additional ₪5 million to meet all the wartime needs of all our students.

The Impact of Your Contribution

Supporting Afeka engineering students means investing in the resilience and future success of Israel's most valuable resource - its human capital.

Your support directly impacts the personal and professional futures of our students, as well as the immediate and long-term stability of Israel's economy and national security.

Provide critical support to Afeka reservists ensures they complete their studies and become the next generation of the start-up nation's innovators and leaders.

It is our moral duty to ensure no student drops-out because of the war. This has become the number one priority for Afeka and for me personally.
