In May 2021, Afeka published "The Afeka Framework for STEM Education - Implementing Change in an Educational Process Using the Principles of Engineering Design." This framework documents our college's process of defining "the Afeka Engineering Graduate Profile" and describes our approach to transforming engineering education—an approach that can serve as a foundation for planning and implementing changes in STEM education across all educational stages.
In response to numerous requests from education professionals, Afeka developed a follow-up document: "Cultivating Skills as Learning Outcomes of an Educational Process: From Theory to Practice." This document serves as a reference guide for defining and implementing skill-based methodologies across various educational contexts. It is designed for a broad audience including teaching staff, school principals, educational administrators, skills-development organizations, academic program directors, military commanders, and others.
The document outlines a comprehensive approach to integrating skills into education, covering all key phases: defining a graduate profile, identifying core skills, establishing proficiency levels for each skill, determining specific learning outcomes and incorporating them into curricula, creating a multi-tiered competency scale to create a progressive skill development curriculum, adapting teaching methods for effective skill transfer, and building frameworks for assessment and measurement. Each phase is illustrated through practical examples from Afeka's experience in implementing this process.
